Circulation:

The Belton-Honea Path News-Chronicle circulation is about 4,000. Most of our readers are in the Belton, Honea Path, Donalds, Iva areas, but we have some who are located throughout the state, U.S. and across the world.

The News-Chronicle publishes weekly on Wednesdays. It has published since 1894 and 1925, the combined founding dates of the original newspapers - The (Honea Path) Chronicle and The Belton News.

Deadlines for ads:
All display ads are due by each Thursday at 5 p.m. (a space reservation is due at least by this deadline. although we can take camera-ready ads until Monday at noon.) All classified line ads are due by Monday at 5 p.m. (the earlier the better).

Standard measurements (Non-classified page):
The standard measurements of paper used for years are still in use by the News-Chronicle at slightly more than 12 inches wide by 21 inches deep.

All pages except classified pages are six columns wide at two inches per column (12 picas) with a one-pica gutter between the columns. Classified pages are eight columns (9 picas) wide.

  • National Rates are $7.25 per column inch.
  • Repeat advertising features a discount of 10 percent on ads which run aconsecutive week(s) with no changes.
  • Color is $75 per color.
  • Non-profit rates are $6 per column inch.

Camera-ready ads are welcome or the News-Chronicle personnel will be happy to set up the ad.

Emailed ads are happily accepted as long as they are in a Mac-friendly format (PDF, JPEG, etc. )

Online ads may be placed on our website at an additional $1 per column inch.

Note: For persons new to advertising, “display” ads are those ads in the newspaper with a line around the box. For newbies, a “column inch” is actually a box that is two inches wide by one inch tall.

Classified display advertising:

  • Rates $5.50 per column inch open rate. Columns are slightly narrower than on regular news pages.
  • Repeat advertising features a discount of 10 percent on ads which run a consecutive week(s) with no changes.

Free ads are limited to items offered free or to lost/found pets with no rewards.

Ads are payable in advance, unless prior arrangements for billing are made. No bills are invoiced for less than $20. We accept cash, checks, money orders, but are not able to accept credit or debit cards.

Preprinted insert rates:

  • Rates are 5.5 cents each for 1-2 page inserts; 6 cents each for 3-4 pages; 7 cents each 5-6 pages; 8 cents for 7-up. We do not have the facilities for pallets and cannot accept larger inserts. We do not have an in-house printing facility for printing inserts, but would be happy to recommend a printing company for that purpose.
